Parks Priorities Survey
Dear Residents,
They say you can tell the health of a community by the condition of its parks. For decades, Amarillo staff have used funds efficiently to keep parks safe, inclusive, enjoyable, and comfortable for our children, families, and residents. We’ve worked hard to maintain our parks and recreation facilities – so hard, that few people recognize the funding challenges we face.
Parks funding has steadily declined over the past decade. Through normal aging, wear and tear, many of our park amenities and facilities are in dire need of repair or replacement. Nearly $50 million of assets are considered “high-risk.” Sadly, these include broken playground structures, sports field lighting, aging picnic tables, benches, and more.
Without additional funding, Amarillo may have to remove or close some park facilities. Which ones? We want your input to help decide. As suggested by the RED X’s currently in our parks, facilities across the park system may be affected.

Please take this survey to help prioritize which facilities to fund. Your input is critical to the future of parks and recreation in Amarillo and our quality of life!

Thank you,
